Please review the information below for Covid restriction updates and new sweeping guidelines at Tam Heather.

    Updated Covid Restrictions

    • As of February 17th, indoor capacity limits were returned back to 100%.
    • Beginning March 1st, we are no longer required to scan the Government Vaccine Passport upon entry to the building. In order to maintain the comfort level of our members, Tam will continue to be a “Members Only” club for the remainder of the 2021-22 season- unless with advanced notice. This will ensure that all individuals on site have shown double vaccination status.

Thank you for your patience regarding the updates below. We know that this has been a disappointing time for our tennis membership.

    Tennis Bubble Update

The collapse of the tennis bubble at Tam Heather was complicated by one main factor: the tennis bubble is owned by the City of Toronto, not Tam Heather.

    • The delays we have encountered are due to disputes between both the City’s insurance company and Tam Heather’s insurance company on the responsibility of both tennis bubble structure, required snow and ice removal, and repairs to the bubble structure if required.

TerryRepolTerry Repol, a long time member at Tam Heather, is not doing well and his health is failing. We know that Terry would appreciate receiving an email from anyone who has known him, to share a memory or your thoughts. He would love to hear from you. So, if you have a moment, please send him an email.

Terry has been a past member on the board of directors for many years and he also taught the curling clinic for Tam Heather. He may have even taught you how to curl!

I’m sure Terry would appreciate any kind words you can pass along to him.

Greetings all Tam Heather Curling Members and welcome back!

We are so pleased to have curling up and running for the remainder of our 2021/22 Curling season.

    Membership Fees

At this time, we would like to remind you that remaining membership fees are now due.

The easiest way to pay is online via credit card by clicking HERE. You will be asked to login if you have not already done so.

Payment can also still be made with debit, cheque or cash, but requires that you come into the office to do so.

    Monthly Statements

Many of our members like the convenience of being on pre-authorized payment, meaning their statement balance is charged to their credit card on or about the 15th of each month. They can then pick up their statement any time after the 15th.

Many don’t even bother to pick up their statements regularly. In these instances, their statements just accumulate for when they do decide to pick them up. Anyone not currently on pre-authorized payment is encouraged to consider signing up. What could be easier? Below is a link to the form. Just fill it out and email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or drop it off in the office.

    Credit Card Pre-Authorization Form

For anyone not on pre-authorized payment, here are your statement pickup options. The statements for January are now available for pickup. When the office is open, just come to the office window. And when the office is closed, your statement will be available for pickup at the bar. If you are picking up your statement at the bar, we ask that you time your pickup strategically (i.e. please don’t ask for your statement when the bar is busy).

Payment can be made over the phone via credit card, even if you haven’t yet picked up your statement. When you call to pay, please choose extension 3. Cheques sent by mail are also acceptable if that’s your preference.

    Thanks,
    Jason

We are pleased to inform you that Tam Heather is scheduled to re-open for curling on Monday Jan. 31, 2022.

Please review the important information below in order to assist in a safe and smooth transition back to play.

We have some difficult news to share with you.

Unfortunately, as a result of the extreme blizzard conditions and heavy snowfall on Monday January 17, Tam Heather's tennis bubble has fully collapsed.

We are working closely with the City of Toronto as they assess the damage to the bubble structure at this time.

As we strategize around a plan for next steps, we will do our best to keep you informed and updated.

    Thanks,
    Jason Leneeuw

In response to today's announcement and with further provincial restrictions put in place due to Omicron, Tam Heather Tennis and Curling will be closed until January 26, 2022. Tam Heather will continue to monitor provincial mandates as they are announced and send updates to our membership.

New member registration will be suspended during the shutdown.

We understand this is disappointing news and we look forward to a time when Tam Heather curling and tennis can resume safely.

    Stay Safe,
    Jason Leneeuw
    Acting General Manager

Hello members, had a bit of a scare tonight, but all is well.

There was an odor detected by club members. It turns out the odor has nothing to do with Tam Heather. Fire department confirmed that the smell of epoxy is coming from the work being done at the intersection of Morningside & Military Trail.

There are currently sewer pipe repairs going on, this was the root cause of the epoxy smell inside the club.  These repairs are scheduled to be completed this evening.  We were informed that there was no concern for member safety.  It will likely take a couple days for the smell to clear out.

Curling can resume first thing Thursday morning.

    Thanks,
    Jason Leneeuw

    Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
