Vienna BeersBEERS, VIENNA "DEE" DEMARRIS (nee SPENCE) Died peacefully, after a short stay in the hospital on December 23, 2022, in her 88th year. Dee was the loving wife of the late Charles Frederick for over 64 years. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Kathryn (Wayne) and the late Greg (Debbie).

She was a proud Granny to Megan, Colin (Cassie), Katie and Erin. Her passions were tennis and spending time with friends, made both on and off the court. She was a force to be reckoned with on the court. Off the court, all were welcome in the home she made with Freddie, especially to enjoy summers by the pool and the annual Boxing Day party. She loved music, dancing, and was happy if she found herself with a beach nearby.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Scarborough General Hospital for their care and compassion during her stay. We are consoled by knowing she's now reunited with Freddie and Greg.

A visitation will take place on Monday, January 2, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at 2 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior. The visitation and funeral will be located at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre Pickering, 1057 Brock Rd., Pickering.

Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Please visit Dee's memorial page at etouch.ca for service details, online guestbook, and donations.

    Toonie Draw

The Club is going to run a 50/50 “Toonie” draw every week until the end of the season to raise funds to assist with the cost of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations.

There will be two boxes on the desk by the bar, one for your toonie and the other for your name entry. Entry slips will be available on the desk for you to complete with your printed name and phone number. The boxes will be available for you to place your toonie and name entry all week with the draw taking place on Friday Night.

For some added excitement we have decided to enter 5 “Tam” (blank) entries into the draw each week, one for each decade Tam has been open. If one of the “Tam” entries is drawn the winnings for that week will be carried over to the next week.

We hope you will join us in our 50/50 Toonie Draw to raise some funds for our Anniversary Celebrations and have some fun with your fellow members.

    Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
