Hello Tam Heather Members,
Neil and I would like to thank you for your orders of meat pies and lasagnas. We are not taking any more orders since the season is starting. It requires time and space which we had before the season started. The good news is we will be making tourtieres in December. Keep an eye out for our newsletter in the future.
Thanks,
Damiano and Neil
Hello Saturday Evening Curlers,
Our second season starts on October 15 , on the ice at 6:30 pm. This is a tag draw so please check in before 6:20 so we can make up the board. We will be setting up the board for 6 end games and 8 end games. We have 104 curlers signed up so far. Carson has sheets made up to accommodate 5 man teams should we have more than 64 curlers.
I have spoken to Damiano about pizza nights. We are planning for 3 spaced out throughout the season. We have 12-13 confirmed available dates with a few more possible. Here are our confirmed dates:
November 26, Jan 7 and March 4 are not confirmed yet. The other weeks are booked events, ice maintenance and 2 jitneys.
If you have other Tam Heather Club friends who have not joined this league but would like to try it out we would be delighted to have them participate. If they are already a full club member a one time $10 social fee will be charged to their account. If they are not a full club member we will make up a name tag, and have a list for the office each week who will charge them $15 for ice time each time they come. Again a one time charge of $10 will also be added by the office to their account to cover our social fee.

Hello All Tam Heather Members,
Tam Heather would like to welcome all NEW Tennis members, as well as all of the returning members for the 2022/23 Winter season.
Back to Basics!
With Covid in the rearview mirror (for the most part), Tam is happy to be able to start the 2022 winter season without any restrictions in place. We will continue to follow the Public Health guidelines and Provincial guidance as we move forward. Please do what makes YOU comfortable! Some members may choose to continue masking and some members will not, both are acceptable, let’s be kind and respectful to each other in remembering this.
New This Season!
We are happy to announce that Tam has initiated a new volunteer run Tennis Committee this year. This committee has seven members, who have already met once and will continue to meet on a monthly basis to discuss the overall needs within the Tam Tennis section.
Why? The principles of the committee are:

A Few Reminders as Tennis returns for Winter Play:
1) The bell that rings at the 55 minute mark tells players to finish their play promptly, pick up balls and exit before the hour mark. Oncoming players should not enter the courts until the ending players have finished and left. The bell that rings at the hour mark signals the start play for the next group.
2) Divider nets closed is the default position. Only if everyone involved agrees should the divider nets be opened between two courts.
3) Non-members are not allowed to play in any court booking unless they are signed in as guests. A daytime tennis member who plays during evenings and weekends is required to pay the guest fee at those times.
4) Any outerwear should be hung on the coat racks located next to the bleachers. Outside shoes and boots need to be removed in the dome entryway prior to stepping out on the courts as we are trying to keep any salt and dirt off the play areas.
5) Please take a moment to make sure you know how to log in to both the members area of the website and to GameTime for court booking. If you are having trouble, please send a message to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
6) The kitchen will open on Tuesday, October 11th and the operating hours are 8:30am-7:30pm Monday to Friday. Tennis members are cordially invited to come to the clubhouse to use the locker rooms, lounge, and bar for beverages, snacks and meals.

A Few Reminders as we Return to Curling:
We will be following Curling Canada/CurlOn General Rules of play, allowing for full sweeping from end to end. Regular rules of play to start the season.
It is time to check your grippers and brush heads to ensure they are in good condition. If not, visit the Tam Pro Shop for a variety of grippers and brush heads.
Please keep your hands and knees off the ice, these marks affect the quality of the ice, take considerable time to fix and impacts the next curling draw.
There will be sanitizing wipes available for the players to wipe the rock handles if so desired. There are dispensers located in between sheets B & C and F & G.
The bell system is in effect again this year – it will ring 1hour and 35 minutes after the scheduled game start – you can finish the end and play one more.
Returning this year: Saturday evening “Mixed Tag Draw” – 6:30 to 8:30PM Wednesday “Anything Goes League” tag draw – 2:00 to 4:00PM

Summer is behind us and we’re all ready for another season of curling and tennis. It will be exciting to start back where we left off before the pandemic.
Neil and I are ready for another season of cooking and putting together new menus and recipes.
We have already started with the meat pies and lasagna and hopefully you have ordered since we will not be making any more until the end of the season.
A REMINDER THE LAST DAY TO PLACE YOUR ORDER IS WEDNESDAY OCT. 5/2022.
In December we will be making our savoury tourtieres for the Christmas season. Watch out for the Club email and a posting at the Kitchen window to place your order.
It was unfortunate but with the pandemic we lost most of our day time staff.
The Tam Heather Kitchen is currently seeking a part time Short Order Cook and part time Day Time Wait staff. Anyone who knows of someone looking for a part time job give them my email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We need staff to serve you better.
Hello,
I am sending this on behalf of the House of Curling Pins, a website set up by and for curling pin collectors, whose primary objective is creating a comprehensive Curling Pin reference site for collectors. The website URL is https://houseofcurlingpins.com/index.html should you wish to check it out.
I am asking for some help in identifying a pin on the site so that it can be put in the proper place on the site. I have attached a photo of the pin for reference. It has "1949 Goodwill Bonspiel Toronto" printed on it. Having done some on-line research, I have seen that there is no direct information on a Goodwill Bonspiel.
So, I am sending an email to Toronto area clubs which may have hosted this bonspiel, which is why I am forwarding this to you.
I am wondering if The Tam Heather Curling Club has a Librarian, Historian, or even an old curler, who has some knowledge of pins issued by your club/organization who might be able to advise if this pin is a version of a pin issued for a club or corporate bonspiel.
Any information that can be supplied for the pin would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Kevin Ans
Pin Collector
