    Hello Tam Heather Members,

After much manual snow shoveling and amazing team work, we are pleased to announce the return to play for all tennis activity starting Monday, March 6th at 7:00 a.m.

At this point in time, enough of the snow has been removed from the west side of the bubble and the bubble has almost returned to its original shape. There is a small amount of TLC still required, but there are currently no safety risks and we are ready to return to play- GAME ON!!

Special thanks to the Tam Heather maintenance team, ice team, tennis coaches and board member, Neil Finlayson- these people deserve a big round of applause!

We have filled all the volunteer spots for March 18th!!

The Toronto Blind Curling Club would like to thank everyone who has volunteered to help out. Those who have volunteered, will be contacted by the organizers with more details and information.

The west side of the tennis bubble has collapsed due to snow load.

Tennis is cancelled until further notice

We will update as the situation changes

We are pleased to inform you that the Board of Directors has made the decision to cover all association fees for both Curling & Tennis for the upcoming 2023/24 season.  The association fees that will now be covered by Tam Heather are: Canada Curling Association (CCA), Ontario Curling Association (OCA), Toronto Curling Association (TCA) and Ontario Tennis Association (OTA).

For the Tennis members that have registered for the upcoming season and have already paid their association fee, Tam will credit their accounts with the amount paid for to the OTA association fee.

We are considering entering a Tam Heather team into the Intercounty "B" Mixed Tennis League this summer season. The season will run from May 9, 2023 to August 15, 2023. Matches are Tuesday nights at 7pm and are the best of 3 sets.

Each player would have to be an annual or summer member of TAM (see rates below) - or a league only membership is available at a cost of $60. Also, a small cost for tennis balls for our home games would be required.

Depending on the interest, tryouts may be required, and they would take place on Saturday April 1st @ 6pm (need to confirm) - mark your calendars. This league is lots of fun and the comradery is great!

    Save the Date 2

This notice is to let you know we are in the process of preparing for the Mixed Closing Bonspiel 2023.

This year Easter falls on Sunday, April 9th which is normally our opening day with 3 draws being played. We are pretty sure no one will want to curl that day, plus the club is closed, 😄 so our schedule this year is going to look a little different.

We are going to play 2 draws on Saturday, April 1st and one draw on Tuesday, April 3rd with the remaining games being played the following week from Mon, April 10th to Sat, April 15th. See attached schedule for more information. Sign up sheets will be available shortly. Hello Tennis Players, Coaches and Club Executives:

OTA Hosting Historic Davis Cup Trophy March 3rd!

The Original Davis Cup Trophy, recently won by Team Canada for the first time, makes a stop at the Sobeys Centre March 3rd as part of its cross-country tour!

The OTA invites you to come to Sobeys Stadium on March 3rd, between 10am and 6pm to take you picture with the historic Davis Cup trophy which Team Canada won in Spain in 2022! The successful team, led by Captain Frank Dancevic (Niagara Falls), included Denis Shapovalov (Richmond Hill), Felix Auger- Aliassime (Montreal), Vasek Pospisil (Vernon), Alexis Galarneau (Montreal) and Gabriel Diallo (Montreal), defeated Australia in the final and won the team title for the first time in the Davis Cup’s 123-year history!

Now you can experience that history first-hand! Come up and view the trophy, take your picture with it, and have a look at all the past winners named on the trophy. Canada is one of only 16 countries to have won the Davis Cup at least once. Tennis Royalty!

The trophy is impressive in its own right! It has three wooden floors, weighs 105 kilos and measures more than one metre high and wide!

The OTA is honoured to host this rare event and is pleased to be able to share it with the Ontario Tennis Community! We look forward to seeing you at Sobeys Stadium March 3rd! The Davis Cup trophy will be on view at the stadium in the George Gross Media Room.

To get to Sobeys Stadium, take the TTC (Pioneer Village Subway Station – followed by Bus 106S for 1 stop), or drive and access the Shoreham Parking Lot #7717 (pay parking lot directly north of Sobeys Centre (access lot on east side of Pond Road – paid credit card parking or Honk Mobile App only – scan qr code below to upload Honk app.). To reach the George Gross Media Centre, enter the stadium via the Tennis Canada main entrance on the north-east corner of Sobeys Stadium, between Gates G and H, and follow the signs to the George Gross Media Centre.

A special request to our member club executives - please feel free to share this with your members - thank you!

    Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
