Tam Heather Board of Directors’ Positions Available at the next Annual General Meeting

Both Curling and Tennis at TAM are thriving. But to keep on thriving, we need your input and your fresh ideas. Please consider volunteering to join the Tam Heather Board of Directors (BOD).

At this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday September 29, 2025, there are three Board of Director positions coming up for election. The normal term for a director is three years, after which an election must to called for that position.  The incumbent may or may not choose to run again, or the incumbent may have reached their maximum term of six consecutive years on the Board of Directors, and thus is no longer eligible to run for re-election.

At this year’s AGM, the three directors coming to the end of their terms of office are the:

  • President
  • Secretary
  • House Director

For this year’s election, David Muir, our current President, has reached the maximum number of consecutive years on the BOD and is no longer eligible to run for re-election.

If you are interested in becoming the President of TAM, you must have had at least one (1) year’s experience serving on the current or a previous TAM Board of Directors.

If you are interested in any of the three board positions noted above, please let us know by contacting David Muir, the Chair of the Nomination Committee (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

For your information, the full Tam Board of Directors currently consists of:

  • President: David Muir, term expires at the Sept 2025 AGM
  • Vice President: Don Richard
  • Treasurer: Sandra Gay
  • Secretary: Erwin Psotka, term expires at the Sept 2025 AGM
  • Curling Liaison: Nancy Killey
  • Tennis Liaison: Saravan Subramaniam
  • House: Neil Finlayson, term expires at the Sept 2025 AGM
  • Membership: Jackie Adams
  • Director at Large: Dan Lang

On behalf of your Board of Directors

Speed of Play - Part 3

Hello Tam Curlers,

Thank you for the amazing feedback on our first two videos! They were a blast to create, and we are thrilled so many of you enjoyed them.

The bigger picture behind the laughs:  Raising awareness about the speed of play in curling.

This third video gets to the heart of it, and now the conversation shifts to you and your team.

Ask yourselves:

  • Am I ready in the hack when it’s my turn?
  • Are the decisions quick and efficient?
  • Is our in-game socializing affecting the flow of the game?
  • This isn’t about blame; it’s about teamwork. A faster game makes curling more enjoyable for everyone. So, let’s take a moment to reflect and share our thoughts with our teams—what can we all do to keep things moving?

Once again, thanks to the volunteers.

Actors:
Laurie Robinson - Lead
Corey Rudderham - 2nd
Joe Renzetti - Vice
Tara Kapeluch - Skip

Crew:
Steve Hawes - Grip

Sonely Cup Match

Hello Tam Curlers,

If you missed it, Team Sone Senior faced off against Team Sone Junior last night in an exciting matchup! Both teams are currently competing in the C Division of the Men's Team Entry.

The game was the culmination of some good-natured smack talk and anticipation, with family and friends in attendance to cheer on both sides. Both teams brought their A-game, eager to see who would come out on top.

The match was a nail-biter, staying close through all seven ends. In the end, Team Sone Senior edged out a 5-3 victory.

Here’s hoping neither team moves divisions so we can look forward to a rematch in the New Year!

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
