Parking Pass Reminder

Hello Tam Heather Members,

This is a friendly reminder to pick up your parking pass if you haven’t done so already.

We’ve been advised that the Pan Am Centre will be hosting a swim competition from Monday, October 20th to Friday, October 24th, which may increase traffic in our parking lots. During this time, the Club will be monitoring parking closely and may contact parking enforcement if necessary.

To avoid any issues, please ensure your parking pass is clearly displayed on the inside of your front windshield. The confirmed parking fine is $75.00, so it’s important that your pass is visible.

Thank you for helping us keep our parking spaces available for our members and guests.

Warm regards,
Tam Heather Management

Tam Heather Parking Pass

Dear Tam Heather Members,

We’re excited to introduce new Tam Heather parking pass stickers for members to place on the inside of their vehicle windshield. These passes will help ensure that parking remains available for our community of members.

Our lots can get busy—especially during events at the Pan Am Centre or the high school across the street. Displaying your pass will allow us to quickly identify member vehicles and keep our lots accessible.

Important details:

  • Parking passes are available in the main office during regular office hours and at the bar in the evenings.
  • One pass per member.
  • Please place the pass in a visible spot on the inside of your windshield.
  • Vehicles without a pass may be subject to enforcement.

Please pick up your parking pass during regular office hours (Monday–Friday) or from the bartender outside of office hours.

Thank you for helping us protect parking for everyone in the Tam Heather community!

Tam Heather Practice Week September 29 – October 5, 2025

We are pleased to offer practice ice for our Tam Heather members to assist in getting the cob webs off your equipment and to get the muscles back in shape for the beginning of the curling season.

  1. You MUST log into the website to book practice ice.  See available practice ice times and sheets on desired day(s) that you would like to practice.
  2. Daytime practice ice on Monday to Friday will be first come, first serve. No reservation required between the hours of 10:00am – 3:00pm.
  3. Reservations are limited to a maximum of 4 players per sheet. If you wish to play a practice game (4 vs.4), perhaps consider reserving 2 sheets, using both sheets to practice for the first half hour, then all move to one sheet and play a game for the remaining half hour.
  4. Practice sessions are 30 minutes in length.
  5. Members are asked to limit their practice to 2 session per day
  6. Please be sure to include the names of all your practice partner(s) on your reservation.
  7. A couple of warm-up stretches while you are waiting might be a good idea.
  8. After one hour of perfecting your draw weight and enjoying being back on the ice, please exit the ice area in a timely matter for the next practice session to begin.
  9. Unfortunately, bar and kitchen service are not yet available; so, we cannot invite you to stay for a drink or something to eat. We can only say how good it was to welcome you back and ask you to depart promptly in order that we start preparations for the next practice session.

Tam Heather Tennis Champions!

Hello Tam Tennis Members,

I would like to extend a great BIG thank you to everyone who helped make this a very special season. For the second year in a row, we’ve taken to the courts and come out as CHAMPS of the Toronto Men’s Tennis League! After winning Division 3 this season, we’re excited to be moving up to Division 2 next year.

Our success wasn’t just on the courts. We played with heart, sportsmanship, and determination—and off the courts, we were winners as well, building friendships and team spirit along the way. As captain, it doesn’t get any better than this.

A special thanks also goes out to our teammates and friends who came out to support us. Your time, encouragement, and energy made the season and our year-end celebration truly memorable.

Now, team—take a breath, enjoy this accomplishment, and celebrate what we’ve achieved together. We’ll start thinking about next year later this winter.

With pride,
Brian Venator

Tennis Etiquette Reminder

We've had a couple instances where tennis members are not following proper etiquette on the courts . Below are two paragraphs from our tennis policy as a reminder.  You can click HERE to see the full policy.

  1. Start and Stop of Play

A warning bell will ring at 5 minutes to the hour. Players must vacate their court promptly when the 2nd bell goes off on the hour, regardless of score.  Players who enter the bubble early are asked to remain on the bleachers until their start time and be respectful of the players on court 1.  In case a court is empty before or after the booked time, a five-minute grace period is permissible.  To enter or exit after the final bell, please do so without impacting / disrupting play on other courts.

  1. General Court Etiquette
    1. When entering or exiting your assigned court, wait until play has stopped before crossing an occupied court, and always cross quickly at the back, behind the players on that court.
    2. Please keep movement across other courts to a minimum. Emergency trips to the washroom occur, but be respectful of others.
    3. The default position for the divider nets is “Closed.” Please do not open the nets unless neighboring players are in full agreement.
    4. When a ball from your court enters another court, wait until play on the other court has stopped and then politely ask for the ball to be returned. Do not step onto another court while a point is in play.
    5. When a ball from another court has entered your court, return the ball promptly once a point has ended on your court and without disrupting a point on their court.
    6. Be aware of the brand and number on the balls you are using. When picking up a ball on your court, don’t just pocket it: check the brand and number. If it’s not yours, look around, as players on another court may be calling for it.
    7. Hang winter coats on the racks provided and leave outdoor shoes at the entrance so that clutter between courts is kept to a minimum.
    8. Have Fun (but never at the expense of others)!

Team Tam Heather vs. Team Barbados 2025 Wrap Up

Hello Tam Heather Members,

Like most traveling teams, their goal was to secure as many wins as possible. That was the hope of Team Barbados, made up of players from various tennis clubs in Barbados and captained by Rosie Roach.

Wednesday evening got off to a late start for the opening ceremony due to players being stuck in traffic, but all four matches still began on time at 7:00 pm. Many spectators came out to support both teams, but by the end of play, Team Tam was leading with four match wins to Team Barbados’ zero.

On Day 2, Team Barbados reshuffled their lineup in hopes of earning a win or two, but Team Tam came out even stronger, once again winning 4–0.

On Day 3, the final day of competition, Team Barbados managed to secure two wins, including one from a Barbados Federation Cup player. Over the three days, the tennis was thrilling to watch, and spectators were treated to exciting matches from start to finish.

Final score: Team Tam 10 – Team Barbados 2.

Congratulations go out to Team Tam and their two captains, Lorne and Colleen Devine.

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
