Toronto Police Auxiliary Toy Drive

Hello Tam Members,

As we head into the holiday season, we’re proud to support a remarkable community initiative — the Toronto Police Auxiliary Toy Drive, now in its 32nd year.

This Toy Drive began after its founder, Carrie Malin (Rouge Valley League Curler), saw a heartbreaking news story about families living in motels along Kingston Road who simply couldn’t afford Christmas gifts for their children. What started as an effort to help 750 children has now grown to supporting over 3,000 kids each year across Scarborough.

The Toy Drive provides for children from newborn to age 18 through shelters, community organizations, families escaping violence, and those identified by Neighbourhood Community Officers who know where the need is greatest. Donations of new, unwrapped toys or cash are used to ensure every age group is covered—so no child is left out.

Given the current economic challenges, the need is expected to be significant again this year. If you’re able, we invite you to join us in supporting this wonderful cause and helping bring holiday joy to children who need it most.

There is a box located in the lower level hallway for donations.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity this season.

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
