Eric Downer Bonspiel
On March 4th the Venerables held the Downer Stick spiel
All 66 curlers signed up with great zeal
However there were new rules and one little trick
Everyone in the bonspiel had to curl with a stick
Lots and lots of very interesting shots
With weird turns, and some even had the case of the hots
The curlers were good-natured and had lots of FUN
They got better and better by the end of game one
Wings, fries and salad for lunch
Everyone liked the change in menu a bunch
Focus on FUN there were many, many draw prizes
Values of coupons, golf gifts and jersey increased in their sizes
Oh yes if you were one of the winners take care of yourself
Make sure you redeem your coupon by Friday, April twelfth
Game twos were much better and had many close games
Some games not as close, mentioning no names
At the end of the day dessert, and cash prizes as well as some draws
Then came the trophy presentation to add to the cause
Thanks to Angelo Greco, Geoff Walker and Cy Crocker who were able
To thankfully decorate the Eric Downer FUN Bonspiel table
The trophy was not awarded to Sam, Bert, Pete or even Don
But was awarded to the Champions of the ever changing Team Heffron
Thanks again to everyone who were able to support the Downer FUN Bonspiel
It really made the day quite special and a very big deal
Now we get ready to do it once again
Looking forward to seeing a full draw at the Memorial on April 10 !!!!!
