Stewart and Helen Wheler Classic Bonspiel - ReCap

The emails went out to invite teams to enter the spiel

As the Wheler Bonspiel is a yearly event that’s a big deal
However, due to play downs, medical issues and trips
Registration for the event came only in little drips
By January 12th we only had 7 teams scheduled to play
It looked like the Bonspiel happening there wasn’t a way
So, the committee came up with a plan that was new
Instead of one division, one would be added to make two
At the end of the Presidents Bonspiel we made an appeal
By the end of the day 23 Venerables were joining the spiel
Out went an email to Keep The Wheler Spiel History Alive
And by the next day our numbers had risen to sixty-five
The Wheler Bonspiel was on again and everyone came
And everyone enjoyed each and every game

Many tie-breakers and games to the eighth end
Enjoyed by many teams, some driven around the bend
The day was full of food, curling, fellowship and FUN
Draw prizes, cash prizes, and Trophies were won
Championship Teams, Dave Wilmot and Mike O’Hearn
Congratulated on the cash prize and trophy they did earn
Runner-ups Cowan and Warren we’re close in the race
Who just needed one more end to keep the pace
A HUGE thank you to all who supported the spiel
And kept the History of the Wheler Bonspiel very real
Hope to see everyone out on Wed. March 27, 2024
When we will make the Tam Heather C. C. again ROAR !!

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
