Tam Team at the Peterborough Youth Fun Spiel

A Tam U15 team participated in the Youth Fun Spiel at the Peterborough Curling Club January 13th.

The original team consisted of John-Paul Zoratto (skip), Ethan Olson (vice), Marnie Bates (second), and Aerilyn Papp (lead). Because Ethan was unable to play at the last moment, the Peterborough club provided a spare. Our U15 team ended up playing a U18 team in their first game and then a U15 team in their second game. They lost the first game but won the second, gaining valuable competitive experience in the process. Most of all, they had a great time at the tournament!

One of the interesting things at this fun spiel was the use of a count-down-clock. Every team had 110 minutes to play either 8 ends (U18 and U15) or 6 ends (U12). Only ends completed in this time were counted for points! Many thanks to the team for representing Tam and congratulations on a well-played bonspiel! (Photos courtesy of Debbie Oosting.)

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
