Tam Heather Venerables Presidents Bonspiel 2023-24

Hello Tam Heather Curlers,

On Monday, January 8th, 2024 we held our Tam Heather Venerables Presidents Bonspiel. The day started with coffee and muffins and then the first game was played followed by lunch. Just before lunch we acknowledged 10 of our Past Presidents.

The Past Presidents were given a free day of curling, lunch, and a drink as a token of all Venerables appreciation of their contributions to make our Curling Club the very successful club that it is. We then presented the Gord Wareham Presidents Rock Trophy to our President Wayne Black who placed his name plate on the trophy. We then presented the Prestigious Appreciation Award to Reg Pembleton which included a special poem describing many of Reg’s contributions to the club, as well as a Certificate of Appreciation, and his nameplate on the Appreciation Award Plaque which hangs by our Venerables Trophy cases. Reg’s award photo will be displayed on the tagboard.

Participants were served a delicious chicken lunch Chez Damiano and Neil which was loved by all. The second game was played and then a very successful 50 / 50 draw which raised over $600.00 and over $300.00 was won by 3 Venerables.  A great dessert and coffee and tea was served and cash prizes were presented to all teams.  The Bonspiel was ended by the Championship Team Ellis comprised of John Ellis, Gary Pennington, Bob Finlay and Ben Weleschuk being piped in and receiving their cash prize and Trophy. Their team trophy photo will be displayed on the tagboard.

Thanks to all 65 participants as well as 10 other Venerables who offered to spare.

Hope to see many of our Venerables Curling Club Members at the Wheler Bonspiel on Monday , February 5, 2024.

Again, thank you for your continued support of our Bonspiel events !

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
