Sad News - Bob Ferron

Robert (Bob) Melbourne Ferron

31 October, 1935 – 26 November, 2023

The Family are saddened to announce the passing of Bob on Sunday, November 26th, 2023 at Lakeridge Ajax Pickering Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Bob Ferron

Bob will be truly missed by his devoted partner & friend Teresa Martin.

Saddened are his children Terry Ferron (Sarah), Lianne Robertson (John) and daughter-in-law Marie Ferron (son Grant predeceased).  Grandpa “Bob” was proud of his grandchildren Challen (Taylor), Ashley (Cody), Clayton, Shaelynn, Madison, Maegan (Tyler), Courtney (Abe), as well as his great-grandchildren Jaycee, Scarlet, Emelia, Millie and Brooke (predeceased).

Bob and his wife Mary (predeceased 1997) began a love for curling at the Tam O’Shanter Country Club.  After a fire engulfed the curling club, a decision was made not to rebuild.  With so many members with such passion for the game, they entered into a venture to build a curling facility known as the Tam Heather Country Club.

Bob was extremely proud to be a member of Tam Heather.  He loved all aspects, the competition of the Men’s, Mixed, and Bonspiels, even those weekends doing repairs and painting during the off season, as it often led to barbeques out the back celebrating their accomplishments.  Most of all, he loved and appreciated the comradery and close friendships he made over the years, leading to golfing groups, Euchre parties and men’s night out during the summers.

After Mary’s passing, Tam Heather was a blessing for Bob, due to the support he needed to move forward, keep active and rebuild his future. It was at Tam Bob met his devoted partner, friend and teammate, Teresa Martin, together for the past 17 years.

Visitation will be held from 1-4 PM on Sunday December 3rd at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home Scarborough (4115 Lawrence Avenue East).

Funeral Service will be held in the Giffen-Mack West Hill Chapel at 11am the following day, December 4th.

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
