Practice Ice: Week of October 2 – 7

We are pleased to offer practice ice for our Tam Heather members to assist in getting the cobwebs off your equipment and to get the muscles back in shape for the beginning of the curling season.

Daytime practice ice

Monday Oct 2 to Friday, Oct 6 daytime will be drop-in practice, first come, first serve. Between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00pm. No booking required.

Evening/Weekend practice ice Oct 2 - Oct 7

Evenings and weekend practice ice will require booking. You must be a registered curling member for the upcoming season to book practice ice.

  1. You MUST log into the website to book practice ice. See available practice ice times and sheets on desired day(s) that you would like to practice.
  2. Practice sessions are limited to 1 hour in length.
  3. Members are asked to limit their practice to 1 session per day; those little-used curling muscles will thank you and this will help ensure practice ice time for all.
  4. Please be sure to include the names of all your practice partner(s) on your reservation.
  5. A couple of warm-up stretches while you are waiting might be a good idea.
  6. After one hour of perfecting your draw weight and enjoying being back on the ice, please exit the ice area in a timely matter for the next practice session to begin.
  7. Unfortunately, bar and kitchen service are not yet available; so, we cannot invite you to stay for a drink or something to eat. We can only say how good it was to welcome you back and ask you to depart promptly in order that we start preparations for the next practice session.

Access to ice booking will be at the top of the home page for all registered 2023/24 curling members.

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
