Dear Tam Heather Curlers,
As many of you know, over the past season we’ve been discussing and learning more about pace of play. Our goal remains to keep games moving at a steady pace—targeting 15-minute ends—to ensure as many ends as possible are played while allowing our ice technicians enough time to prepare the ice for the next draw.
With this in mind, the Curling Committee has approved a change to our league bell time for the upcoming season:
- New Bell Time: 30 minutes before the end of the draw (previously 25 minutes)
- Rule: Teams may finish the end they are in and then play one additional end, as before
- When does an end of curling officially end at Tam?
An end is officially complete once the Vices from both teams agree on the score. If this agreement occurs before the bell rings, you may play another end and one additional end. - Starting your game: Once both hacks are in place and the scoreboard has been cleared, you may begin your game. For Sheets D and E, if the Ice Techs are cleaning the ice nippers, you do not need to wait for them to finish before starting your game.
Please see the Pace of Play infographics below for full details and tips on keeping games moving smoothly. You may also download a PDF copy HERE.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we’re looking forward to another great season on the ice!
