With the Venerables joining Tam Heather, registration for Venerables will now be done online through the Tam website. Each Venerable will require a Tam account, so for each returning Venerable from the 2021-22 or 2019-20 season who does not already have a Tam account, a Tam account with that person’s most recent information will be created shortly by Tam management.

When your account is created, you will receive an email from Tam. Use the link in the email to access the Tam website and log in using your Username (email address) and the temporary password provided. The system will force you to change the password to one you choose. Check that the information in your account profile is accurate, and if not please update it as required.

For those of you who already have a Tam account, please use your existing account

Starting on July 11, you will be able to register for Venerables. Log in to the Tam website, click the Registration link and choose Curling. You will see Venerables among the many leagues. Click on the Venerables link and follow the steps to register for 2022-23. If you don’t sign up for additional charges (other leagues, locker, etc.) you will owe $410 for the season, after a credit for the “returning Venerables subsidy” of $31.75.

For the 2022-23 season only, Venerables can defer payment until after registration, and make payment by mailing in a cheque, calling in your credit card info, or by coming into the office during regular business hours and paying by cash, debit, credit card or by cheque. In future years, payment will be required by credit card at the time of registration.

Mel Crossley and Janet Gammon would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the Wayne Crossley Memorial Golf Tournament in Honour of Terry Repol.

It was a perfect day! The weather was glorious and we enjoyed a wonderful day of golf followed by an outstanding and delicious outdoor dining experience in Mel’s beautiful backyard.

Your overwhelming generosity over the course of the day and evening resulted in us being able to make a donation in the amount of $6,000.00 to ALS. As well, a donation of approximately $2,500.00 was made to the West Hill United Church Outreach Program.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who were able to be there that day and to those who donated in other ways.

    Mel and Janet

    CREASER, Keith "Pops"

I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn (2018), and dearly-missed son, Stuart (1988). Much-loved Dad to Steven (Karen) and Leanne (Brian). Much-loved Poppa to Melissa (Liam), Abby (Kevin) and Nathan. He will be missed by great-grandchildren, Maddie and Elyse. Predeceased by his brother Max. Survived by his siblings, Mona (Ron), Harry (Joanne), Ellen (Fred) and Billy (Diane). Dad was born and raised in Riverport, NS, worked in Toronto and retired with mom in Lakefield. Pops was a multi-sport athlete and member of the Tam Heather Curling Club. He worked for forty years in the general insurance industry and was a loyal Toronto sports fan. Missed by many friends and extended family.

With great sadness, I am passing along some news on behalf of my Dad, Terry.

He was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of ALS in February of this year. Specifically Bulbar ALS. In the last few months, his health has deteriorated rapidly; and he is unable to speak, swallow and is in tremendous pain. He will be receiving MAID (Medically Aided Dying) this Thursday at noon, with Suzanne, Meaghan, and I at his side. While we are devastated to be losing him, we are so grateful for the incredible staff at the ALS clinic at Sunnybrook who have been so kind through his diagnosis and treatment. We are also very relieved that he won’t have continue to suffer. He promised he would hang on, so long as his quality of life was greater than the pain he was in and unfortunately, the pain is too great for him to continue. As I’m writing this, Suzanne is at the hospital with him with some acute pain he couldn’t tolerate this morning, likely related to the feeding tube he recently had installed. As always, she is at his side through the worst of things, and I could never articulate what that means to Meaghan and I. Because of Covid, we haven’t been able to be here as often as we would have liked, but we knew he was being cared for. I know he was also well entertained by Mark and Mary, who became the only people besides Suzanne to see him regularly through Covid. The Repol family has been able to visit again; and I know how much it means to Dad, Dave, and Janice. Also his own grandchildren, he has said how much he will miss his girls. They will miss him just as much. We all will.

He has written about his life, his cars, jobs, hobbies, friends, and his family. If you would like to read in his words, what has meant the most to him, please look at the website my daughter Kayla prepared for him to share. There is a page where you can share memories and pictures. There is also a straight to pdf version if you wanted to print it off to read on actual paper. Life and Times of Terry Repol

He wanted to make sure he thanked all his friends, co-workers, and family for their parts in his life, and asked me to send out this email. I know he’s most saddened to be leaving Suzanne behind, but Meg and I will make sure she’s not alone. We’ve both got incredible support at home, which we will be relying on heavily over the next little while, and we are incredibly grateful for. He has made sure to impress upon us the importance of being happy in your own life, so you can never sit at the end of it and wish for anything more. When he was first diagnosed, I asked if there was anything on his bucket list he wanted to do, anywhere he wanted to go. He said that there was nothing left, he’d done it all, and had probably driven a sports car to it...

I’ve cc’d my email address, in case there is anyone who would like to be included in the celebration of his life that will be upcoming. He will also be able to hopefully see any responses over the next couple of days, but I suspect his priority will be spending time with Sue and seeing family. I hope I’ve included everyone from his contact list who should be seeing this (I’ve left the list closed as to not share everyone’s email address publicly) please pass this along to whomever you like.

Please keep him, and us in your thoughts this week.

    Sincerely

    Maire

    Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
