Practice Ice Available Oct 3 to Oct 10

In preparation for the start of play, practice ice will be available in the evenings Monday Oct 3 through Friday Oct 7, all day on Saturday Oct 8 (9am-3pm), and then again during the day on Monday Oct 10 (9am-3pm). There will be no practice ice on Sunday, Oct 9.

There will be 4-1-hour evening time slots each day on Monday Oct 3 to Friday Oct 7 (5-6pm, 6-7pm, 7-8pm, 8-9pm).

Practice ice can be booked using the on-line Ice Booking feature on the Tam website at Simply log in and go to the Ice Booking menu. Make sure to change the month to October to see the available time slots.

    ice booking

After selecting your favourite sheet, you will see the available time slots. Select one and then add the name of your practice partner(s) in the appropriate spots (or “none”). Upon completion of your reservation, you will receive an email confirmation. Please be sure to cancel your reservation if you find that you are unable to attend at the reserved time. This will make the ice available for someone else.

Additional requirements to be aware of:

    1. Reservations are limited to a maximum of 4 players per sheet. If you wish to play a practice game (4 vs. 4), perhaps consider reserving 2 sheets, using both sheets to practice for the first half hour; then all move to one sheet and play a game for the remaining half hour.
    2. Practice sessions are limited to 1 hour in length.
    3. Members are asked to limit their practice to 1 session per day; those little-used curling muscles will thank you and this will help ensure practice ice time for all.
    4. A couple of warm-up stretches while you are waiting might be a good idea.
    5. Sanitizing wipes will be provided for you to sanitize your rocks, if you wish to do so.  Dispensers will be located in between sheets B&C and F&G.
    6. Unfortunately, bar and kitchen service are not yet available; so, we cannot invite you to stay for a drink or something to eat. We can only say how good it was to welcome you back and ask you to depart promptly in order that we start preparations for the next practice session.

In addition, All Daytime leagues will have drop-in practice ice available to them (no booking required) between 10am-2pm on Monday Oct 3 to Friday Oct 7.

    Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
