Block Booking Lottery 2025/6

We hope this message finds you well and looking forward to the upcoming Tennis season. We have some important updates regarding our block booking policy for the upcoming winter season, and we want to ensure that everyone is well-informed.

  1. Availability:
    • The office and Tennis Director will establish all available days and times for block bookings.
    • Ownership will be determined through a lottery system.
    • Block bookings will be valid for "one winter season" at a time, allocated through the lottery.
    • All block bookings from previous years will conclude at the end of the membership year.
  2. Length and Number of Courts:
    • Each block booking is limited to one court for a maximum duration of two hours per session. Top of Form
  3. Block Booking Administration Fee:
    • There will be a one-time administration fee of $35.00 +HST per block booking, per season.
  4. General Rules of a Block Booking:
    • Block booking time slots are available exclusively during the winter season, from October 1st to April 30th.
    • The Tam Heather Office must be notified of all players included in the block booking.
    • Members can participate in only ONE block booking per season.
    • Block booking entails a prepaid court rental, with charges deducted from participants' accounts at the start of the season, according to the provided schedule for the full season.
    • Charges for block booking court fees will be equally divided among all participants.
    • Block booking payments are non-refundable. In the event of hazardous weather conditions, a makeup game time slot will be offered (notification to the office is required).
    • In the event that you need to bring a guest to substitute for a scheduled player, please inform the office beforehand. A guest fee charge will be applicable.

Block Booking Guidelines 2025-2026

  1. Eligibility and Entry:
    • Each member is allowed one entry in the lottery.
    • Members can participate in only one block booking lottery per season.
    • All members of the block booking must be listed on the application.
    • Members can only participate in one block booking per season.
  2. Allocation of Time Slots:
    • Time slots will be provided for members to choose from.
    • There will be more than 6 time slots available for selection, providing flexibility to members.
  3. Block Booking Allocation:
    • 6 one-court, two-hour block bookings will be allocated for the 2025-2026 season.
  4. Lottery Procedure:
    • The office will conduct the draw for the lottery. The draw will take place on Monday, July 14, 2025.
    • Each member will be contacted in the order they were drawn.
  5. Selection Process:
    • Once contacted, members can choose the time slot they would like to have from the available options.

Club Information

Tam Heather, or the “Tam” as we call it, is an active friendly club located in the Morningside and 401 community of Scarborough. Tam Heather opened in 1973 as a curling club with eight sheets of ice, then two years later in 1975, the club expanded by adding five tennis courts, three of which were covered in the winter with a bubble. Thirty four years later, in 2009, a four court year-round covered structure was built.
