Tam Heather Curling Club has been asked to host one of the events in this decade’s “Strathcona Cup”. We have accepted their invitation on your behalf.
Canada plays host to the world’s oldest international men’s curling bonspiel, the “Strathcona Cup”. This month-long curling bonspiel brings together 60 male curlers from Scotland to play against our very own in curling centers from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia. The competition is comprised of three distinct tours (Western, Central, and Eastern Canadian Tours). Now in it’s 120th year, the next Strathcona Cup will be competed for in January 2023 and in particular at Tam heather on January 23, 2023. We are making this historic event open to all Tam Heather male curling teams and members.
While under the watchful eye and support of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club and Curling Canada, the event is managed and operated by curlers who were fortunate enough to participate in the 2018 competition that traversed the country of Scotland.
The 2023 Strathcona Cup Central Tour (composed of 20 Scottish curlers) will begin in Toronto on January 11th and along the way will pass through more than 20 towns and cities ranging from Port Elgin in the west (and site of CurlON’s 2023 Provincial Men’s and Women’s Championships) to Montreal in the east, before the final closing event for all 60 curlers in Ottawa on February 3rd.
TAM HEATHER is hosting one draw of 4 games the afternoon of Monday, January 23, 2023. Time is approximately from 1:30 pm until after a light dinner approximately 6:30 pm. We welcome your support and interest in representing our club at this event.
SPONSORS: We welcome sponsors interested in helping us host this event and welcome any suggestions. Hart-Well Electric has committed as one of our sponsors. We are hoping for three of four other sponsors to participate in parts of the event and to help host this event.
Representative Teams:
Depending on how many men and teams are interested we may have to select our representatives by some selection method to be determined by our sub-committee.
Please note that curlers who have already played in previous Strathcona Cup events are not eligible to play for this decade’s Cup. However, you are very welcome to help with our sub committee.
